Solvay SA is a Belgian company which is active in chemicals and pharmaceuticals. It was founded in 1863 by Ernest Solvay, whose heirs through Solvac SA control Solvay. The sectors in which it operates are a total of three: pharmaceuticals, chemicals and plastics. In Italy, owns a factory in Rosignano Solvay used for the production of caustic soda, baking soda and soda ash. The factory Rosignano Solvay is the first factory built in Italy. The construction industry in Italy began on September 17, 1913, although early as since 1909 it sought site suitable for the realization of the building.
